First 80m hybrid Amels 80 superyacht launched

The first hybrid 79.8-metre Amels 80 superyacht has been launched from the shipyard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.

TheAmels 80yacht was first unveiled in March 2022, with her keel laid at the Galati facility in Romania in August. She was then towed to Vlissingen, the Netherlands in November 2023 for outfitting, where she remained until her launch.The Amels 80 Limited Edition yacht features exterior design by Espen Øino, with interior design by Sinot Yacht Architecture and naval architecture by Damen Yachting. The first hull was sold in September 2022 by Burgess, who remained involved in the build process to represent the owner, with this project also marking the first collaboration between Sinot and Amels.

Staying true to theAmelsDNA, designerEspen Øinohas crafted a sleek and cohesive exterior design that embodies modern elegance, composed of a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. A defining feature of this next-generation design is her use of sustainable materials and cutting-edge hybrid technology.At a volume of 2,175 GT, the Amels 80 yacht is capable of hosting as many as 14 guests across her seven stateroom layout, while further accommodation is available to support a crew of up to 21 members onboard.

TheAmels 80yacht also boasts an impressive 150-square-metre beach club, with side terraces. A key feature in her design is her glass-fronted transom shell door, which has been produced in-house and folds down into a recess in the swim platform, while another folding hatch closes on top of it for a flush, teak-decked finish. "The Amels 80 offered the client many custom options, whilst still benefitting from the shortened delivery time," added Adriaan Roose, Product Design Manager at Amels. "This yacht is the ultimate balance of individuality and efficiency."

Key features onboard the first Amels 80 yacht include a 200-square-metre sun deck, a private owner’s deck, a 6.5-metre swimming pool, and a spacious beach club, complete with a spa, sauna, gym, hammam and massage room.

Regarding her performance, the motor yacht is powered by a hybrid propulsion system, that propels her to a cruising speed of 12 knots and a nautical range of 5,000 nautical miles.“With today's launch of the first Amels 80, we have reached another landmark achievement in the history of Amels," concluded Rose Damen, Managing Director of Damen Yachting.
