Sunseeker announces proposed restructure with 200 jobs under review

British yacht builder Sunseeker International has announced plans for a significant reorganisation of its operations, which could result in approximately 200 roles being made redundant.

The plans aim to enhance efficiency and ensure the long-term sustainability of the business, with around 10 percent of the workforce potentially affected by the changes. The proposed changes come as the company responds to a softening in global demand, driven by ongoing political and economic uncertainties.

In a statement released today, Sunseeker confirmed that the proposed restructuring will focus on its support, leadership and management functions. The company will now enter into a formal consultation process with employees, as required by law, for a minimum period of 45 days.

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly,” explained Andrea Frabetti, CEO of Sunseeker International. “We are fully aware of the impact this will have on the affected employees, and our priority now is to engage openly and respectfully throughout the consultation process and provide as much support as possible.”

Sunseeker noted that the reorganisation forms part of its strategy to streamline operations, reduce costs and focus resources where they will have the greatest strategic impact. The company’s priority remains fulfilling its global order book, supporting innovation and advancing the development of new models, including its highly anticipated superyacht range.

“I want to reassure our people, our partners, and the wider community that Sunseeker remains deeply committed to manufacturing in Poole and Portland.” concluded Frabetti. “These sites are, and will continue to be, at the heart of our operations as we evolve for the future.”
