Record year for Lürssen as six superyachts join fleet

German superyacht builder Lürssen has completed a record-breaking year of new deliveries, handing over six custom yachts in 2026 while also bringing the number of yachts over 100 metres now in operation to more than 30.

The six yachts – Odisea, Deep Blue, Boardwalk, O3, Nausicaä, and Nixie – range from 75 to 140-metres and have left Germany for worldwide cruising destinations.

The deliveries represent one of the most diverse collections of yachts reflecting a range of owner-led designs and engineering solutions. According to the shipyard, more than one-third of the world’s 100 largest yachts are Lürssen-built.

Company hails remarkable achievement

CEO of Lürssen, Peter Lürssen says: “Our role is to create the environment, expertise, and engineering capability to make ideas possible. Delivering six yachts in a single year is a remarkable achievement, and the commitment of everyone involved deserves enormous credit. Engineering is a balance of technical expertise and creativity – the diversity of this year’s deliveries demonstrates that perfectly.”

The shipyard says each project typically requires around four years of development and construction, involving hundreds of thousands of manufacturing hours from keel laying through to outfitting.

Among the six deliveries, Nixie will make a public debut at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show. The yacht features a cabana-style lounge concept with an open indoor-outdoor layout, a six-metre-wide aft pool positioned above the swim platform and a 270-square-metre beach club.

Nixie is also equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system and energy storage designed to improve efficiency. Lürssen also revealed that two unnamed yachts delivered this year incorporate further propulsion developments: one with a battery installation capable of supporting overnight operation, and another combining diesel-electric propulsion with electric motor stabilisers.

Lineup includes extended cruising yacht O3

The 2026 delivery lineup also included the expedition yacht O3, developed for extended cruising, boasting long-range capabilities. While Odisea’s design is focused on blurring the inside with out, featuring a modern-day ‘beach house’ concept.

Designed by Australian industrial designer Marc Newson, the futuristic Nausicaä features several distinctive architectural features, such as a continuous ribbon of glass surrounding the guest deck and a large glass sky dome.

Encompassing more traditional styling in the 2026 deliveries is Boardwalk, which also includes Lürssen’s first sliding hatch integrated with a retractable stairwell on the main deck.

Commenting on the current orderbook, Michael Breman, senior sales director at Lürssen, says: “I am in a privileged position to see what is coming next. The Lürssen machine never stops. Every conversation with a new or long-standing client always starts with a blank canvas. It is exciting. No two owners imagine the same future, and no two Lürssens should ever be alike. That is what keeps us looking forward. Every project is an opportunity to push the boundaries a little further.”
