Tecnomarine Yachts relaunches with new aluminium yacht range

Tecnomarine Yachts is returning to yacht building in Tuscany, with the historic Italian brand relaunching under new ownership and resuming operations in Pisa’s Navicelli district.

The yard was founded in Viareggio in 1972 by Moreno Maestrelli and the Picchiotti family of yacht builders, with technical collaboration from yacht designer Paolo Caliari, and the shipyard built more than 300 yachts over five decades. Among its best-known models were the C-42, the Cobra series and the 36m flagship T-118, before the company ceased operations.

The brand has since been acquired by entrepreneur Massimiliano Zilioli, who is overseeing its return with a renewed focus on custom aluminium yacht construction.

Production will take place at a new facility on the Navicelli Canal, which includes 3,500 square metres of covered production space and 3,000 square metres of outdoor working areas. The yard plans to build fully custom displacement and semi-displacement yachts in aluminium between 25m and 50m.

In a statement, the company says that focusing exclusively on aluminium is designed to build on the brand’s heritage while reflecting modern engineering practices. It says the material has been chosen for its strength, sustainability and structural flexibility, while allowing owners a high level of customisation. Tuscany, where the yachts will be built, is a region with a long-established yacht-building and metalworking industry.

“The relaunch of Tecnomarine Yachts represents an industrial challenge built on solid foundations: the shipyard’s heritage and the excellence of Made in Italy,” says Massimiliano Zilioli, owner of Tecnomarine Yachts. “Restarting from a strategic district such as Pisa Navicelli allows us to combine traditional craftsmanship with the latest construction technologies.

“Our objective is not simply to bring a historic brand back to the water, but to position it among the leaders in aluminium yacht construction by offering yachts that deliver safety, efficiency and a disciplined design language.”

The new range comprises five aluminium models: the TM33, TM40, TM41, TM45 and TM90. The relaunch is centred on the 33m TM33 and 40m TM40, both developed with Dragoni Designlab.

Designed as an aluminium fast cruiser, the TM33 combines a sporty exterior profile with an interior layout intended to make the most of onboard living space, including generous outdoor areas.

The displacement TM40 represents the brand’s latest design direction and is intended for longer-range cruising. Extensive mirrored glazing creates a stronger visual connection between the interior and exterior, while the aft section is configured as an open terrace overlooking the water.

Tecnomarine says it plans to present its industrial strategy, production facilities and full model range during the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show in September.
