Job description

Our client is looking for a solid, experienced Engineer to join their 45m private motor yacht. The yacht is not huge, but is complex for her size, the best candidates have solid experience across a range of yachts. This is not a penny pinching program! The owner is well aware of the value of the Engine Department and they spend the money on maintenance and improvements. They are always looking for ways to make the boat better. Expectations are high - and so is the budget. Candidates must be even-keeled, easy going in their attitude and a team player. Very “intense” Engineers may not be the best possible fit. This is a “hands-on” program so your solid maintenance skills are evident, you enjoy “turning the wrench” and keeping all of the moving parts up to par. They do utilize vendor support, but this is not a program for a candidate looking to build spreadsheets and send email all day. Although not an actual “rotation” position, they have a solid, long term Engineer who works onboard when the yacht is in Fort Lauderdale and fills in for the Engineer on a regular basis. The Engineer has their own cabin, so there are no gender restriction - it also happens to be the best cabin on the boat (we told you the owner knows the value of a solid Engineer) To be considered, candidates must be local-ish to Fort Lauderdale. They can consider any nationality, but US and Green Card candidates will be included in the benefits and perks of the American company - and these are significant. Non-US candidates are not eligible for those perks, but the conditions are still very good. Tattoos are not an issue - as long as they are not on face/neck - this is still yachting! The program is currently local (South Florida - Bahamas) and they are planning trips up and down the east coast of the US with the Pacific in the planning stages for next year! Requirements: They do not require a license, but DDE or a “Y” ticket will be given extra consideration. 24+ months yacht experience.
