HOW FAR DOES YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF MARITIME GO?

What the maritime industry means and brings to the global needs bracket? Is it safe to be a seafarer? How much do these large ships cost? Is the freight expensive? You may have thought of this before or maybe you have not, but we are sure some of the upcoming facts will surprise you :) So, let's crack on.⁣

You would be surprised how much we all, maritime bound or not, rely on those iron travelers able to reach all corners of the globe. Being close to the sea, or not, shipping drives the world's economy, despite significant advancements of alternative transportation forms. Currently, 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝟗𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧/𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲, with millions worldwide hugely reliant on shipping imports and exports.⁣

But, seafarers risk their lives, you'll say. Actually, 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫. Due to its inherently global nature, the shipping industry was the first to adopt strict and efficient safety standards. Until now, shipping safety procedures are more heavily regulated than any other industry out there. That's something worth mentioning to your family before your first boarding, for sure :)⁣

Ships are expensive to build. Some largest global container ships cost over 𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 $ to construct, while the cruise liners are absolute champions, with the largest ( and the most expensive) ship's construction costs exceeded 𝟏.𝟒 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 $.

We are Crew Pages. We challenge you to teach us, and fellow seamen, of some new maritime facts we've never heard of before. Let's crew it out!
